1) Share the vision - Let's set up a free consultation call where I can ask you what custom aspects you need in your sauna. Things like overall size and dimensions, window placement, heater type etc. I want to get all the details right. Feel free to book a call with me using the appointment tool on the "Get in Touch" page!
2) Set budget and timeline - After I get the details of the build, I will return to you with a proposal that we can discuss and make any changes if necessary. Then we can agree to pricing and timeframe. I take great pride and go to great lengths to produce not only a fully functioning sauna but also a showpiece that you would be proud to put on your property. My builds can range from 10-12 weeks at a time.
3) Time to build! - I ask for 50% of the total price to commence your build and will ask for the remaining 50% once the sauna is completed at my shop.
4) Delivery and final setup - I will get delivery scheduled and will see you soon with your custom sauna!
1) Higher R-values in the walls and ceiling - R-value is used to measure heat retention. We only build saunas with insulated walls and ceiling as compared to kits and barrels that generally only use single 2x4 walls. The R-value of kits and barrels amounts to roughly R-2, as compared to our saunas that start at R-15 in the walls and R-19 in the ceiling. We focus on achieving high R-values to minimize heat loss and retain as much heat for as long as possible.
2) Proper moisture/radiant barrier. As moisture tries to escape our saunas, it is blocked by aluminum sheeting hidden behind the cedar cladding, keeping the warm steam inside the sauna instead of seeping into the walls and roof, preventing rot. The aluminum barrier also reflects radiant heat back into the sauna, making the heater more efficient at warming the room and keeping it hot. Kits and barrels are void of this feature.
3) Outdoor durability - My saunas come standard with a proper metal roof, built just like a house, as opposed to barrels and kits that generally do not offer a long-lasting solution to protect against ice, rain, and snow. Not to mention there have been cases of barrel sauna walls forming gaps between the boards that allow rain and snow melt to seep in.
4) Two-tier bench system - Many barrels and even kit saunas include only one level of benches. It's important to sit as high as possible to remain in the heat pocket that forms towards the top of the room, and this is only achievable with a double-bench system.
5) Saves you TIME. - Because I fully construct and deliver to you, I save you the hassle and the work of building your own. This leaves you with more time that is better spent with your family and close friends! It's my vision to provide you a premium-quality sauna without the hassle of power tools, saws, and mistakes.
We build saunas off-site and hand-deliver them to you via a professional moving company. We need clear pathways around any corners and through fences to safely move your sauna to its desired location. As a general rule of thumb, having a foot of space between any obstacles and the sauna is helpful. SaunaHub or any affiliates are not responsible to de-construct or remove major obstacles.
Countryside Sheds handles delivery aspects, and they come fully equipped with hydraulic trailers and machines to safely and easily place your sauna even in tight spaces. It's really something to see them work their professional moving equipment ensuring your sauna arrives safely and is placed correctly!
Every sauna will come equipped with its own electrical panel mounted to the rear wall. Please consult with your electrician to determine how to connect your sauna panel to your main panel via underground conduit or select the option for a generator inlet plug. Depending on your heater size, you will need a 30- or 50-amp 240-volt circuit breaker, non-GFI.
The site of your sauna should be as level as possible. Saunas are built with pressure-treated bases, so you can choose to have dirt, gravel, or concrete at your site. SaunaHub or affiliates will perform minor leveling adjustments but are not responsible for major sloping or any site preparation unless agreed beforehand.
Sauna heaters are designed for water to poured on the hot stones to create a wave of steam that's very therapeutic. It is recommended that the user waits to pour water until the rocks are heated, and the elements have been turned off and are not glowing red anymore. In other words, you will prolong the life of your elements by waiting a minute or two after you hear the elements click off and have cooled off enough so that they are not glowing red.
